 SIBIR'SKAYA ZVEZDA

Sibir'skaya Zvezda ('Siberian Star') with 75.000 inhabitants is located in the Eastern Siberian region of the USSR. Founded in 1962 as a 'model laboratory city', it was meant to become a way for Soviet urban planners to experiment with designs that would later be adopted across the entire Union.

Construction of the Metropolitan Tramway began as early as 1963, with a single-car single-track line running between Red Star Depot and Republic Theater for three years, until tracks were laid to the Sibir'skaya Station

Further extensions to the network happened in 1967, with the planned construction of the Metallurgic Kombinat leading to the creation of what will come to be known as Line 2, running between Mechanical Factory and Micro-05, until being expanded to Outskirts in 1971, with the opening of the Solar Farms.

The following stations are currently planned for a city centre extension: Samarskaya and Teatral'naya.
